Unfortunately, all of these things happen if you don't maintain and look after your swimwear. That's why I've put together my top 7 tips and experiences to help you use your swimwear for many years to come - without it being damaged, too big or smelly.
1. Rinse your swimwear in very cold water immediately after use
Rinsing your swimwear in cold water is a classic, but it works! The cold water reassembles the materials in your swimwear, returning them to the way they were before you wore them.
2. Hang your swimwear to dry
A really nasty but important thing to do is to hang your swimwear up as soon as you get home. This prevents your swimwear from rotting or smelling like it would in your swim bag. It's best to do this outside, so it can get some fresh air at the same time
3. Regularly change your swimwear
It's much better if you have, for example, 3 pairs of swimming trunks/swimsuits that you alternate between wearing instead of using up one pair before starting the next. This will minimise the strain on your swimwear, making it last even longer

4. Don't lend it out
You probably know it, but we're here to remind you again: Don't lend your swimwear to your teammates. They don't have the same body size as you (whether they're smaller or bigger than you), so it'll make your swimwear different the next time you wear it.

5. Avoid soap and shampoo etc. on swimwear
You might be wondering, but soap, shampoo and other detergents on your swimwear are negative and will ruin it in the long run. Because they get stuck in your swimwear, and you won't be able to rinse it all out.
6. Careful with your nails!
Nails are probably the most common reason for holes in swimming trunks/swimsuits. So either cut them or just take a little more care. At least you'll avoid holes in your swimwear.

7.Β Keep it calm
If you just throw on your swimwear in one go, you can't help but expand it a little each time. So take it a little at a time, it will come on eventually.
